Florent Geroux secured the Jockeys’ Guild Jockey of the Week title by winning eight races out of 36 mounts during the week of February 16 through February 22. Three of Geroux’s wins were stakes races held on Saturday at  Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

Geroux posted an impressive 8 wins, 5 seconds, and 10 thirds for $366,195 in earnings during the seven-day period. For his stakes triple, Geroux rode Eden Prairie to victory in the Bayou Stakes, Chocolate Ride in the Fair Grounds Handicap (GIII), and I’m A Chatterbox in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes (GIII).

Chocolate Ride broke out of the gate and never looked back as he went wire to wire for a 1 3/4 length victory. Geroux said, “No one wanted to go with him, so I took advantage. I was able to slow him down and when I asked him down the lane, he really took off. My horse ran great.”

Florent Geroux was born in 1986 in France and is the son of former jockey, Dominque Geroux. His first win was at Longchamp in 2004 and he is currently tied for 6th in 2015 North American wins with 40.
