Jockey David Cabrera, looking to build on the most successful season of his career in 2018, secured a milestone victory Sept. 9 at Prairie Meadows.

Cabrera secured the 1,000th victory of his career Monday when he guided End Zone Athletics' Rocketringo to a front-end score in the seventh race at Prairie Meadows, a one-mile and 70-yard claiming race. Rocketringo is trained by his owner, Karl Broberg, currently the leading conditioner by wins in North America this season, as he has been every year since 2014.

In 2018 Cabrera ranked 30th in North America by earnings, $6,421,834; and 11th by wins, 236; from 1,184 starts. Based in the Southwest and Midwest, the native of Mexico has ranked in the top 100 in earnings each full year from 2016-18 and in wins each full year from 2014-18. Both the 2018 earnings and wins totals were career bests.

This season Cabrera's mounts have won 106 races through Sept. 9 and earned more than $3 million.

Some of the leading horses for Cabrera include Welder, who Cabrera has guided to multiple stakes wins at Remington Park and Will Rogers Downs in 2018 and 2019; and Wilbo, winner of the $125,000 King Cotton Stakes last year at Oaklawn Park.

Cabrera has earned multiple graded stakes placings since he began riding in the United States in 2013. Through Sept. 9 his mounts have a 1,000-953-936 mark from 6,043 starts and earnings of $20,903,077.
